The 2026 West Midlands Grammar Schools test results have been sent to families applying for September 2027 entry. Queen Mary’s Grammar School says it sent boys’ scores on 14 October 2026. Queen Mary’s High School says its girls’ results have now been shared. If your email is missing, check the spam or junk folder and contact the relevant school.
The next step is a separate secondary school application. Walsall residents must apply through Walsall Council by 31 October 2026. Families outside Walsall use their home council’s form and should check that council’s deadline. Your test registration did not apply for a school place.
What is the 2027 Queen Mary’s Grammar School pass mark?
The boys’ school displays 200 as an approximate minimum qualifying score for September 2027 entry. Its own table marks that figure with an asterisk: governors will confirm the minimum after their analysis in November 2026. Do not present 200 as the final 2027 threshold or as the score needed to be offered a place (Queen Mary’s Grammar School, 2027 entry).
The same school table shows the 2026-entry minimum as 200, but the lowest score offered to a non-Pupil Premium applicant on National Offer Day was 225, falling to 223 after waiting-list movement. These are outcomes from the previous admissions round, not a forecast for March 2027. The school has 180 Year 7 places for boys in 2027. Its policy gives priority first to qualifying looked-after and previously looked-after children, then to qualifying Pupil Premium applicants within its published category, and then to other qualifying boys by score. Read the Queen Mary’s Grammar School guide alongside the school’s 2027 admissions page before deciding whether to name it.
What is the 2027 Queen Mary’s High School pass mark?
The girls’ school has not confirmed a 2027 minimum qualifying score. Its September 2027 entry page says governors will confirm it in November 2026. Its 2026-entry minimum was 200, but copying that number to a 2027 application would be a guess. The school says each year's minimum can change and applies only to Queen Mary’s High School.
For context, the lowest score offered to a non-Pupil Premium applicant at the school in the previous 2026-entry round was 216 on National Offer Day and 212 after waiting-list movement. Pupil Premium applicants had a different priority category. Neither historical figure predicts this year's offer. The school has 150 Year 7 places for girls. Use the Queen Mary’s High School guide and the school’s current page to check its own eligibility and priority rules.
Can you use one West Midlands test score for both schools?
Both Walsall schools take part in the West Midlands Grammar Schools partnership, which uses an age-standardised test. The score can be shared with other partner schools only under the choices made during test registration. The schools warn that their admissions criteria differ, so the same test result is not one universal pass decision (Queen Mary’s Grammar School, Queen Mary’s High School).
In particular, Birmingham’s 205 qualifying and King Edward VI’s 224 priority scores are for those schools, not the 2027 minimum at either Queen Mary’s school. Our Birmingham guide explains that separate decision. The West Midlands test route lists the shared assessment; each school’s published policy determines who can be offered its places.
What should you do before 31 October?
- Read the score sent to your child and the school’s current guidance. Queen Mary’s Grammar School’s 200 is provisional; Queen Mary’s High School’s 2027 minimum is still to be confirmed. Ask the school about any result or eligibility question you cannot resolve from its page.
- Choose schools you would genuinely accept. Check each school’s 2027 admissions policy, Pupil Premium evidence rules, travel and any score-sharing selection you made when registering for the test. A qualifying score does not reserve a place.
- Submit your home council’s secondary application by its deadline. For Walsall residents that is 31 October 2026. Walsall Council says out-of-borough families must apply through the council where they live. Save the application confirmation.
The local authority will issue school offers on 1 March 2027. You can use our school application order planner to arrange a shortlist in genuine preference order, then use the official school and council pages to check the final application.
Walsall results questions
Is 200 a guaranteed place at Queen Mary’s Grammar School in 2027?
No. The school labels 200 an approximate 2027 minimum subject to confirmation in November 2026. Even a confirmed qualifying score would allow consideration, not guarantee an offer. The previous 2026-entry non-Pupil Premium National Offer Day floor was 225, on a different cohort.
Is Queen Mary’s High School’s 2027 qualifying score also 200?
The school has not published a final 2027 minimum. Its 200 figure belongs to 2026 entry. Check its current admissions page after the governors’ November decision.
Does a West Midlands test registration count as a school application?
No. Name each school you want on your home local authority’s secondary application. For a Walsall resident, the council’s on-time deadline is 31 October 2026.
