Bexley sent the 2026 Selection Test results by email from 4pm on Friday 2 October 2026. The test was for children seeking a secondary school place in September 2027. Check the email address used to register, including its junk folder. If the result is missing, contact Bexley's School Admissions Team rather than relying on a score reported elsewhere (Bexley Council, test results).
The immediate job is to make your secondary school application. Bexley residents must submit it by 11.59pm on 31 October 2026. Families living outside Bexley apply through their home local authority and should check that council's deadline. Registering for the test in March did not apply for a school place (Bexley Council, applying online).
What does a selective result mean?
A selective decision means your child can be considered for a place at a Bexley grammar school. It is not an offer. The four schools are Beths Grammar School, Bexley Grammar School, Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School and Townley Grammar School. Bexley says there are 800 places across them for September 2027 and that each school applies its own admissions rules. Distance matters for many places, so read the policy for each school you might name (Bexley Council, Selection Test information).
Bexley does not publish a fixed pass mark in advance of the test. Use the decision in your child's result email, rather than a threshold from an earlier year or a score found on a forum. Our Bexley Selection Test guide explains the scoring and the differences between the four schools.
How should you order your school choices?
Bexley residents may name up to six schools. Put them in the order you genuinely prefer. Bexley says every preference is considered against that school's published criteria, and the eventual offer is the highest preference for which a place is available. Naming a school lower on the form does not make that school's admissions rules harder to meet (Bexley Council, applying online).
Check the current policy and travel plan for every school on your list. Include schools you would be happy for your child to attend if a grammar place is unavailable. Our Bexley school directory can help you make a shortlist, and the application order planner can help you put it in preference order. The schools' own policies settle eligibility and priority.
Some schools require a supplementary information form as well as the council application. Bexley's application guidance lists Beths, Bexley Grammar and Townley. At Bexley Grammar School, the 2027 policy and attached form say that a family claiming one of its up to 12 selective Pupil Premium places must return the form and supporting evidence to the school by 31 October 2026. They must also name Bexley Grammar on their home council's application. Its school guide explains the other priority groups. The 2027 Bexley school directory also says Pupil Premium applicants to Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School should obtain that school's form; applicants who do not qualify for Pupil Premium do not need one for that school. Check the other schools directly for their form rules and deadlines. A supplementary form alone does not count as a school application (Bexley Council, applying online).
What if your child was not deemed selective?
Build a realistic list of other secondary schools now. Bexley's 2026 Headteacher Review rules required the headteacher, rather than a parent, to submit a request between 5 and 16 October 2026. That request window has closed. The panel considers requests in November, after the school application deadline, and the council plans to tell headteachers the outcome by 24 November 2026. If a review was requested for your child, Bexley says to name at least one Bexley grammar school on the secondary application so it can consider the application if the review succeeds. Submit the application by your home council's deadline rather than waiting for the review outcome.
A test-score review is separate from the school offer in March. If a preferred Bexley school refuses a place on National Offer Day, the 2027 secondary appeal route is through that school, with its published appeal timetable. Our results and appeals guide explains the wider sequence.
The dates to keep
- 2 October 2026: Bexley Selection Test results emailed.
- 16 October 2026: last day for a headteacher to submit a 2026 Bexley review request (Bexley Council).
- 31 October 2026, 11.59pm: Bexley's online secondary school application closes. Your home council's deadline applies if you live elsewhere.
- 1 March 2027: National Offer Day for on-time school applications (Bexley Council, applying online).
Submit your application and keep the confirmation email and reference number. If you change preferences before the deadline, submit the changes too. Bexley says an unsubmitted form is not a valid application (Bexley Council, applying online).
