1. Main Governors' Entrance Examination
Girls registered with Loreto sit its separate English and Verbal Reasoning GL papers and internal Mathematics paper. The September 2026 sitting has closed; it is not the Trafford Consortium test.
2. Result and school application
Loreto schedules results by email on or before 21 October 2026. A pass makes an applicant eligible for consideration, then the school's Catholic oversubscription categories, Pupil Premium and examination rank apply. Families must also name Loreto on their home authority's separate secondary school application.
3. Late examination for non-sitters
Loreto offers an April 2027 late sitting only to girls who did not take the September exam. A girl who sat and did not pass cannot retake it at this sitting. Because initial offers precede the late test, a successful late candidate can join the waiting list only.

Applicants must pass the Governors' Entrance Examination; no numeric 2027 pass mark is published in the policy. Where a category is oversubscribed, Pupil Premium eligibility has priority, followed by higher examination marks and then the school's distance tie-break. Passing does not guarantee a place.
