Scoring and eligibility
Stage 1 ranks candidates and invites the top 450 to Stage 2. Standardised Stage 2 results are aggregated with SET marks to produce a final rank. For aggregate-score ties, the order is Mathematics, creative writing, English multiple choice, then SET, followed by an independently overseen random allocation if still tied. The policy provides for qualifying looked-after boys in the initial top 450 who take Stage 2 and up to 10 Pupil Premium places; eligibility or Stage 1 rank does not guarantee an offer.
