- Three multiple-choice papers in one sitting, with breaks between papers: Mathematics (50 minutes), English (45 minutes) and Verbal Reasoning (50 minutes). The papers are administered at South Wilts Grammar School. Answers are entered on an optical mark reader answer sheet.

- South Wilts Grammar School is a girls' school. It said results would be on its parent portal at 9am on Thursday 15 October 2026. The result shows a score and whether your daughter is eligible. Eligible means she met the standard. It is not a place offer.
- Name South Wilts on the Common Application Form from the council where you live, by 31 October 2026. Test registration does not replace it. If your daughter did not sit the test, the policy says a request made before 31 October can lead to a late test in early December, but only if South Wilts is on the form.
- Wiltshire Council coordinates offers, and the school gives 1 March 2027 as allocation day. A girl who met the standard but is not offered a place goes on the school's waiting list for that year. A refused place can be appealed, and appeals must be registered within 20 school days of the refusal.

1. Optional familiarisation paper
Registered candidates could opt for a non-marked Verbal Reasoning familiarisation paper on Saturday 19 September 2026. This does not count as the selection test.
2. 11+ selection test
For September 2027 entry, the selection test took place on Saturday 26 September 2026 and comprised three GL Assessment multiple-choice papers in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning, taken in one sitting. Scores are age-standardised and the three subjects receive equal weighting.

Scoring and eligibility
The three test scores are age-standardised and equally weighted, then added to determine whether the candidate meets the required academic standard. The policy does not publish a fixed numeric standard. Eligible Pupil Premium candidates have a standard 3% lower and up to 10 places are reserved for that concession; unused concession places return to standard-pass candidates. Meeting the standard does not guarantee an offer, because the school then applies oversubscription criteria.
