- Two in-person papers at Ermysted's Grammar School. One paper has English and Mathematics questions with multiple-choice options; the other has English and Mathematics questions answered with short written responses. The responses are automatically scanned and marked, then the two paper scores are standardised and age-adjusted.
After the 2026 Ermysted's test
- The school scheduled test outcomes for the week beginning 12 October 2026. Check the school's message or contact its admissions team if you do not have the outcome. Reaching the required standard does not guarantee a place.
- Name Ermysted's on your separate home-council application if you want a place. North Yorkshire residents must apply by 31 October 2026; families elsewhere must follow their home council's instructions. Test registration was not a school application.
- Only families claiming priority under the school's oversubscription criteria need its Supplementary Information Form and supporting evidence. The 2027-entry deadline is noon on 27 November 2026. On our 24 October review, the linked online form still named September 2026 entry. Ask the school for the correct 2027 form before submitting priority evidence; use the current admissions page below for instructions.
Subjects and stages
- English
- Mathematics
1. Main entrance test
Applicants who registered by the deadline sit two FSCE papers on 26 September 2026 at the school. The tests include English and Mathematics, using multiple-choice and short written responses. The two paper scores are standardised and age-adjusted, then added to form the overall score.
2. Test outcome and application
The Admissions Committee sets the required standard from the performance of the main test cohort. Parents are told in the week commencing 12 October whether the candidate reached that standard. The family must also name the school on the home local authority Common Application Form; a suitable score does not guarantee an offer.
